Social Media (SoMe) is becoming more important. Sites like Twitter mean it’s much easier to get messages out about your work and what you do.
You may have concerns about using social, being unsure about the professional boundaries. This document clarifies the NMC position. In this document NHS Employers offer guidance on using social media and both are worth reading before you embark on using Twitter or other forms of social media.
In the coming months we will be doing more about SoMe on this site, but in the meantime please check out the WeNurses site. This site has a fantastic resource called ‘Twitterversity’ which describes Twitter and tweeting in simple steps: Student tweeter, Staff tweeter and Sister tweeter. If you work at your own pace through these three guides you will have the ability and confidence to get the most out of Twitter for both you and your service.
